Aims

Main Aim

•The program has the mission to train scientists with a critical and innovative spirit to perform in the field of cellular and molecular biology with resolution and creativity, being capable of leading and integrating scientific and technological research teams.

Specific Objectives

• To train scientists, within the disciplines of cellular and molecular biology, who are capable of understanding and approaching complex biological processes obtaining original results and ultimately protecting the developed knowledge and disseminate it to the scientific community in an ethical and professional way.
• To develop high quality research, based on solid methodologiesand focused on priority issues, which are highly applicable in the field of molecular andcellular biology and similar subject areas such asbio-resources, biomedicine, and biotechnology.
• To provide the appropriateacademic conditions for trainingstudents, stimulating academic and scientific discussion among their peers.
• To promote and develop international cooperation with centres of excellenceoverseas, maintaining an active academic and scientific exchange.

Graduate profileGraduates have an integrated vision and solid understanding in cellular and molecular biology. They possess high standard training to develop applied, independent, original and creative research, either individually or as a part of a multidisciplinary group in the area of biological scienceswith emphasis on biomedicine, biology of reproduction, and bio-resources technology in local or overseas institutions of higher education and centres of excellence.
