Objective of the ProgramThe general objective of the Doctorate in Morphological Sciences is to train highly qualified graduates with a critical spirit who are able to perform and integrate themselves with solvency and creativity as academics in scientific research teams of their respective areas of knowledge. In addition, they will be able to conduct research independently.

Profile of the Graduate

The graduate of the Doctoral Program in Morphological Sciences of the University of La Frontera, will be a professional with a solid academic and ethical training in their assigned area and will be able to perform at universities and research centers of higher level in Chile and abroad.
The graduate will be a specialist on a higher level with a critical spirit, who will be able to perform and integrate with solvency and creativity in scientific research teams in their respective areas of knowledge.
In the professional aspect, the Doctor in Morphological Sciences will be able to create and conduct research projects. In addition, he or she will be able to impart high level teaching either on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and establish solid ties with the regional and national community through extended activities.

Admission requirements

In order to enter the Doctorate Program in Morphological Sciences, the applicants must possess a graduate or a Master's Degree in Morphology, Medicine or Medical-Biological areas, obtained from an national or foreign institution of higher education recognized by the Ministry Of Education and the University of La Frontera.
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements established in the General Postgraduate and Internal Regulations of the Program.

Program descriptionThe program consists of a total of 55 credits: 30 of subjects and 25 of the thesis.

1st semester
• Methodology and scientific communication in morphological sciences. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Mariano del Sol C. (5 credits).
• Scientific Greek. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Eduardo Miranda N. (2 credits)
• Elective subject(s). According to the line of research that the doctorate student will follow. (4 credits)

2nd semester
• Fundamentals of experimental nutrition. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Márcia Águila Barbosa. (3 credits)
• Quantitative methods in morphology. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Carlos Alberto Mandarim-de-Lacerda. (3 credits)
• Elective subject(s). According to the line of research that the doctorate student will follow. (4 credits)

3rd semester
• Advances in molecular biology. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Luis Salazar N. (4 credits)
• Immunocytochemistry. Professor in charge: Prof. Dr. Mariano del Sol (3 credits)
• Elective subject(s). According to the line of research that the doctorate student will follow. (2 credits)
• Thesis project.

4th semester
• Doctorate thesis

5th semester
• Doctorate thesis
